Annika Hippler’s minimalist, poetic works explore the influence of light and movement on space and perception. In her multidimensional works, she translates oscillations, vibrations, and waves into analog photograms, site-specific installations, and light objects. She is particularly interested in creating analog-immersive light spaces that transform existing locations to enable new perceptual experiences.
For the exhibition “Simulakra” at Superbien Berlin, she questions the relationship between light and matter. Based on the principle of mimicry, her objects initially appear as functional technical infrastructure, but upon closer inspection, they reveal themselves as material disinformation or analog deepfakes. The installation focuses on the greenhouse as a site where the boundaries between nature and technology, original and simulation, seem to blur.
