„Waters of High Seas“ is a site-specific installation by Marina Camargo
that explores maps as mutable structures of spatial representation. Cut
out and painted, the artist’s cartographies transcend their
conventional contours, transforming seas and territories into open forms
suspended in space. By exploring the exhibition space's transparency,
the works reveal both sides: on the one hand, the water areas appear
hollowed out and mirrored; on the other, they seem to float around the
black silhouettes of the cut-out forms. Transformed into windows, the
maps intermingle, rendering the convened cartographies mutable forms and
geographies. At the core of the exhibition are the seas and oceans:
zones of dispute and transition, marked by displacement and by
connections that expand the territories.
